Interesting Sports Weekend

As I watched a lot of college football this weekend it was very interesting to me.  First of all, WVU was very impressive in their win over Marshall in the final installment of the Friends of Coal Bowl.  West Virginia's offense was able to do whatever they wanted to do against the Marshall defense and proved that they will put up a lot of points this season.  As for Marshall, I really liked what they did on the offensive side of the ball.  I thought Cato showed great improvement over last year and played well as he threw for over 400 yards, the only QB in Conference USA to do that in week 1, I thought Van ran the ball well and Marshall proved to have more weapons on the outside than just Dobson.  If they can get the defense worked out  by making more tackles Marshall should contend for a Conference USA title.

I also watched the University of Miami play on Saturday afternoon, I thought the Canes came back well and looked good after falling behind 14-0 to BC on the road.  Miami is a very young team that unless the NCAA comes down hard on them, which I think they might, could make some noise back on the national scene in the next couple of years unless these young players decide to do what a lot of Canes players do and that is leave early for the NFL.

And finally I started watching the Alabama-Michigan game and wow Alabama even though they lost a lot of talent from last year they just reloaded and looked like a team that will contend for another national championship, and could be on the way to establishing themselves as a dynasty which I did not think would happen again in the college game. After watching some of that game I flipped the TV over to watch Oregon, mainly to see their new uniforms which I think are GREAT!!   I know they played Arkansas State, but the athletes the Ducks have on this team is impressive and the play of their true Freshman QB was impressive and Oregon will be in the conversation for the National Championship all season and the Game on November 3 at USC should be fun to watch.

Overall it was a good week of College Football and just be looking at some of the scores that were put up by some top teams we could see a lot of offensive records broken this year.
