It’s a part of the game coaches hate to practice, but every now and then a player comes along to prove why it’s still part of the game. Senior cornerback Keon Robinson of the Shepherd University football is one of those players, being named WVIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his standout play in Shepherd's 41-20 win over West Virginia State on Saturday. Robinson gained WVIAC weekly honors for the third time this season.
I spoke with Keon about his and the teams play so far this season.
Robinson had a sensational game on special teams for the Rams in the win at West Virginia State. Robinson returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. After a field goal for the Yellow Jackets in the third period, Robinson returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a score. He accounted for 217 all-purpose yards in the game.
