NFL Week 9 Power Rankings: Halloween Edition
Mwahahahahaaha! Halloween is here and we are at the midpoint in the 2012 NFL Season. Many teams have been more of a trick than a treat, but there is nothing wrong with a competitive NFL. Is your team a Trick or a Treat though? Last week I got some requests to do a full 32 team Power Rankings. So here we go. A special Halloween Edition with all 32 teams in it. I have never given the Atlanta Falcons the credit they deserve for their (7-0) start, but this week I will. They have been really good and ended Andy Reid's perfect record when his teams come off a bye week. Back to Halloween, some teams are playing like monsters, others like ghouls. Let's get to the Power Rankings!

1. New York Giants (6-2)
The Giants played average at best in Dallas, but they kept forcing Tony Romo to give them plenty of treats (turnovers) in their 29-24 victory. The Giants are still great. Frankenfine!

2. Atlanta Falcons (7-0)
This is a treat for Atlanta! The highest I have ever had them in this poll. I can't keep ignoring that they are a pretty good team and their defense looks better than it used to. Not completely sold still, but they are playing great.

3. Denver Broncos (4-3)
Super sold on the treat of watching Peyton Manning again. The Broncos look like the Colts used to now, which is scary good!

4. Green Bay Packers (5-3)
Trick or Treat? Defense: Trick. Offense: Treat. Still, Aaron Rodgers can carry this team all the way to the Super Bowl.

5. New England Patriots (5-3)
Same as Green Bay but switch Tom Brady with Aaron Rodgers.

6. San Francisco 49ers (6-2)
This team has been a big treat since Jim Harbaugh took over last year. I am still not sure about Alex Smith leading them in the playoffs, but they are possibly the best roster in the NFL (minus QB).

7. Houston Texans (6-1)
Matt Shaub might look like a Gomer Pyle-Frankenstein, but he has done well this year and the team around him is great. Houston could be there in the end!

8. Chicago Bears (6-1)
Could this team be the first Trick who looks like a Treat? Their record looks good, but the Bears could have a tough time beating the top teams in the NFC. In fact, I am pretty sure they will. Dracula Cutler needs to play better.

9. Pittsburgh Bumblees (4-3)
I think the Steelers have a great chance of taking the AFC North now, with all of the Ravens injuries and with Pittsburgh getting back into the monsters they used to be. If they get on a roll, who knows how good the Steelers can be?

10. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)
The Ravens are too good of a Halloween team to not be in the Top 10, I mean Ravens, come on! Still, their injuries and weak defense scares me more than Paranormal Activity 4.

11. Miami Dolphins (4-3)
Hey, the Dolphins look pretty good. Trick or Treat? Not sure yet, probably a trick, but they have a bright future. When the season started, I thought Matt Moore should be their starter. He proved on Sunday that he is capable.

12. Minnesota Vikings (5-3)
This team is a total TRICK. If you watched them on Thursday night, you know they are probably going nowhere. Still, with a beast like Adrian Peterson, you never know.

13. Seattle Seahawks (4-4)
This team has been giving the fans some treats with some big wins, but it is hard to tell if Russell Wilson can keep it rolling in the second half of the schedule.

14. New Orleans Saints (2-5)
Yeah, I know. How can I put a (2-5) team this high? Well, the Saints are good but not quite good enough lately. Not having a coach would scare anyone! Still, Drew Brees can will them to an 8-8, 7-9 record. Mwahaha!

15. Indianapolis Colts (4-3)
Andrew Luck has been a super treat! He is a machine that will only get better as the years go by. Keep playing for Chuck, boys!

16. New York Jets (3-5)
Trick or Treat weekly for Jets fans. Mostly tricks. This team has some talent, but not like it used to. Little Eddie Munster (Mark Sanchez) is under a lot of pressure, but I think that he is the least of this team's worries. FrankenTebow is on his way!

17. Dallas Cowboys (3-4)
I think Dallas is a decent team. They have bad luck each year and Tony Romo gets more tricks than treats for sure. Hard to play great when the fans and media are chasing you around with a chainsaw though.

18. San Diego Chargers (3-4)
Norv Turner is the scariest monster I have ever seen. Worst than that, he never goes away. They keep making sequels year after year and it truly frightens all the San Diego fans.

19. Washington Redskins (3-5)
Must give some love to RGIII. This beast is something scary for sure. The nightmare for him though is his wide recievers and the defense. The team is a big trick, but there might not be a bigger treat in the NFL than Robert Griffin III.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)
Andy Reid is looking like a lonely Wolfman right now. The cards are stacked against him and his creation: Michael Vick. Can they get out of this hole or will they get burried alive?

21. Arizona Cardinals (4-4)
No bigger trick or treat than Arizona Cardinals this year. They treated their fans to a (4-0) start, then after that they treated them to 4 straight losses. It is starting to look like those first 4 games were the real trick! Sorry Cardinals fans! However, the other Cardinals got to the NLCS, so that is good right?

22. Detroit Lions (3-4)
Megatron is on the cover of Madden. Always looks like a treat, but ends up a trick with the dreaded Madden Curse! He has one touchdown this year and his team does not look playoff bound.

23. Oakland Raiders (3-4)
These mummies are trying their best, and in a weak AFC, they could end up tricking everyone, and treating their fans!

24. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4)
They tricked their fans last year into thinking they were a good team, but the Bengals, like most AFC teams, still have a chance to treat their fans to a playoff birth! It's Alive! Their playoff chances are alive!

25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)
The Buccaneers confuse me. Some weeks they are a pleasant family film, other weeks they are Saw III. Same with Josh Freeman. Scary stuff!

26. Buffalo Bills (3-4)
Did you see that contract they gave Ryan Fitzpatrick? WHAT A NIGHTMARE!

27. Tennessee Titans (3-4)
Old Man Hasselbeck has done well for the Titans, but the real worry is Jake Locker. He needs to get back out on the field to gain experience, cause the only place Tennessee is going this year is the Twilight Zone!

28. St. Louis Rams (3-5)
Nothing scares me more than Brian Schottenheimer as my Offensive Coordinator. If you want to scare yourself this Halloween, watch his offense for 5 minutes.

29. Cleveland Browns (2-6)
The Browns are a treat for a (2-6) team.

30. Carolina Panthers (1-6)
Anyone have any suggestions yet for Cam Newton? We all know losing is scary. Cam is clearly freaking out right now. He needs to put that Superman costume back on.

31. Kansas City Chiefs (1-6)
What is with this team? No trick, no treat. Just bad.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6)
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Happy Halloween Folks!

What is RIGHT with the Jets?
Okay, in my NFL Preview, I picked the Jets to finish the season
(11-5). Halfway through, they already have the 5 losses I predicted, at (3-5). Not much is going right for the Jets either. Rex Ryan has coached poorly, the offense is playing terrible, including a very poor coaching job by Tony Sparano, the defense has been okay, but can't stop the run, the Special Teams has been the worst it has ever been under Mike Westhoff, the team is filled with injuries, etc. It is basically a disaster in Florham Park, New Jersey and I don't mean Hurricane Sandy. So for all the Jets fans out there, let's look at some positives of your (3-5) Jets:

1. Nick Mangold is still a top Center in the NFL and has played well. Tony Sparano's blocking scheme has made the offensive line take a step back, but Mangold is still playing at a top level.

2. Antonio Cromartie has played well filling in for Darrelle Revis as a shut down cornerback. In fact, this has been the best Cromartie has ever played in his career.

3. I think Mark Sanchez is still a solid quarterback and a quarterback of the future for the Jets, but he is surrounded by a bad situation. Coaching, players around him, it will be very hard for him to succeed in New York.

4. LaRon Landry has played well as a hard hitting safety for the Jets defense. Just like Cromartie, his talents have been wasted on an overall poor team.

5. Punter Rob Malone. Not good when your punter is part of what is going right on your team, but Malone has done very well this season. He has had 2 punts blocked though, due to poor protection. Who is his personal protector on punts? Tim Tebow.

Okay, so can this ship get back on a playoff course? No. Not this season. Too much wrong with the Jets. Too much indeed.

NFL Week 8 Picks/Power Rankings
The weeks are flying by! It is already time for Week 8 tonight, as the surprise (5-2) Vikings host Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers. I think that game could be fun to watch because I have not been able to watch much of either team this season. Again, the Power Rankings were hard to do this week because so many teams are so close to each other and there really are not that many GREAT teams in the NFL right now. This week has plenty of good match-ups, so let's get to it!

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Minnesota Vikings
A win tonight will make Minnestoa a surprising (6-2) team, but they are playing great. Their defense is strong, Adrian Peterson looks great again, and most surprising is quarterback Christian Ponder has played pretty well.

SUNDAY:

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets
The Dolphins are coming off a BYE, a Rex Ryan-led Jets team has never swept the Dolphins, the Jets are coming off a heart-breaking loss in New England where they outplayed the Patriots, yet made too many mistakes, so yeah I am taking the Jets to win this one big.

San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns
I might be a Browns fan. Every game of theirs feels like a toss-up to me. Then I have to remind myself that they are (1-6).

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
I love the Titans radio announcer who says "TOUCHDOWN TITANS!" It was even cooler this week with the last second touchdown to defeat the Bills 35-34. I think Tennessee wins their 3rd straight game.

New England Patriots at St. Louis Rams
This year's London game could be a good one, because the Patriots have lost to the Cardinals and Seahawks. They are not doing well against the NFC West. I still think they get the win though.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is a scary team to play now that Aaron Rodgers is back to playing like Aaron Rodgers. I would not be surprised if they don't lose again.

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles
The Falcons are (6-0), yet this will be the 4th time I pick them to lose. I just think the Eagles at home, off a bye, will be tough to beat.

Washington Redskins at Pittsburgh Steelers
Many Steelers fans are like "Wait til RGIII plays our defense." I don't get it. They are old and slow. Seems like a good match-up for RGIII. The problem is I don't think the Redskins defense can stop the Steelers at all. Pittsburgh wins.

Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions
If Seattle is really a contender, these are the games they have to win. If they do, then I will be sold on them as a playoff team, if not then I won't. This is a must win for Detroit though.

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears
The Bears are under the radar, despite being (5-1). Cam Newton is looking for suggestions on how the Panthers can get better. My suggestion would be not to play the Bears Defense. Sadly, Cam has no choice.

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
Brady Quinn is going to save the day in Kansas City! Maybe. Probably not.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

I am excited for this game. The Cowboys have to win to keep pace in the NFC East and I think they will do it. They were close to beating the Giants twice last year and this will be the time Romo and Big D get the job done. I am not sure how though, but I have a feeling Dallas does it. Can you trust a feeling? Eli Manning and the Giants find a way to win each week. Dallas will have to step up.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos
Great match-up. Peyton Manning vs. Drew Brees. Can't wait to watch it. My Super Bowl pick was Packers-Broncos and I still think it is going to happen. I said I would not be surprised if Green Bay never loses again, I feel the same with Denver, but they have a tougher schedule.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
San Francisco 49ers
at Arizona Cardinals
Can you win your first 4 games then lose your next 4? Yep.

POWER RANKINGS:
1. New York Giants (5-2)
Big win over the Redskins keeps the Giants in the #1 Spot.

2. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
The Packers are hot and they are not stopping any time soon.

3. New England Patriots (4-3)
They played pretty bad last week and still won. They will only get better.

4. Denver Broncos (3-3)
Peyton Manning has been on target all year, now the rest of the team is joining him finally.

5. Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
Matt Ryan has led Atlanta to their best start ever. Can he keep it going?

6. Houston Texans (6-1)
The loss to Green Bay was bad, but blowing out the Ravens got Houston back on track.

7. Chicago Bears (5-1)
The Bears are looking good. Maybe the best defense in the NFL.

8. San Francisco 49ers (5-2)
The 49ers are still great, but the Giants loss was bad.

9. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)
Ravens are fading fast. Can they get back on track? I think so.

10. Minnesota Vikings (5-2)

I think the Vikings move to (6-2) tonight. Have to start considering them a contender.

October 22nd Sports Update
Fun sports weekend, huh? Plenty of great action yesterday in the NFL. The Jets lost to the Patriots 29-26 in overtime. I picked this as my upset pick and the Jets proved me right with their effort, but too many costly mistakes cost the Jets. You could look at so many examples, but I will not. Bottom line is the Patriots won. They have the 4-3 record and are now in first place in the AFC East. The Jets showed they can play with anyone, but can't seem to avoid making stupid mistakes.

The Giants were able to defeat the Redskins and during the game, Fred Davis was lost for the year due to injury, so today the Redskins re-signed Chris Cooley. My first blog post was about Cooley being cut, now we have gone full circle as he is back with the Redskins. Still a tough loss for them, as Davis is a great tight end. RGIII looked great yesterday, but it was not enough.

The Texans beat up the Ravens, the Packers looked strong in
St. Louis, the Steelers came back to win on Sunday Night Football in Cincinnati, plenty of great games yesterday. Tonight Jay Cutler and the Bears host Matthew Stafford and the Lions. I expect the Bears to take care of Detroit.

Tonight the Cardinals take on the Giants in Game 7 of the NLCS. The Cardinals had a 3-1 series lead, but now it is tied up 3-3 and Game 7 is in San Francisco, so I expect the Giants to pull this off. However, the Cardinals were down 6-0 in DC in an elimination Game 5, and we all know how that ended. I hope the Giants do win though, because if they don't, who knows how WEPM's own George Pavlik will react? It will probably be ugly.

NFL Week 7 Picks
Whoa! It is already Week 7! That is the worst part of every NFL season: You wait all year for it, then it just flies by. Good news is most teams in the NFL are still alive for a playoff spot right now. Many teams are around (3-3), which means the final stretch of the season could be really exciting. There is also still plenty of time for a surprise or dark horse team to emerge and make a Super Bowl run. I think my Packers-Broncos Super Bowl pick could still happen too. Now let's get to the picks!

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
If this game was in Seattle, I would go with the Seahawks, but I expect the 49ers to bounce back after a bad loss to the Giants. Kind of like they did after losing to the Vikings, you know, when they beat the Jets 34-0.

SUNDAY:
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings
Battle of (4-2) teams, which means one of them will be (5-2). Pretty impressive start for both teams, but I see Minnesota as the stronger team.

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers
This is actually a really hard pick. I am leaning towards the Panthers, but I can't see the Cowboys starting the season (2-4), so I will take Dallas to give it their all.

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Call me crazy, as many do, but I see the Saints in the playoffs still. It will be hard in a very tough NFC, but they have the talent.

Green Bay Packers at St. Louis Rams
The Packers offense is back! This game is almost a lock. No, it is a lock. Aaron Rodgers vs. a Brian Schottenheimer offense? Not good for the Rams.

Washington Redskins at New York Giants
The Redskins beat the Giants twice last year, then the Giants won the Super Bowl while Washington missed the playoffs. Makes sense right? There is something to be said about a team having another team's number, but I will pick the Giants.

Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans
Houston bounces back after a tough loss to Green Bay. Although I could see the Ravens winning easily, Houston can't lose two straight home games.

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills
Tough pick here. Neither look good at all, so I will go with the home team.

Cleveland Browns at Indianapolis Colts
I like this game. I really do. Two young teams with bright futures, I think Indianapolis players better at home, so I will give them the slight edge. If you read my Powerless Rankings, you saw I think Cleveland is pretty good, despite the (1-5) start.

UPSET SPECIAL:
New York Jets
at New England Patriots

Okay, both teams are (3-3), but many feel the Patriots are much better than the Jets. Including me! The Patriots are fairly healthy too, while the Jets are missing many key pieces. I am interested in seeing how the Jets defense plays against New England and also how the Jets offense attacks a weak Patriots secondary. Expect a few Tebow plays thrown in there too.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders
Just kidding. Couldn't figure out what game to pick this week, so how about this showdown of bad teams? Could be a good one. Doubtful. Raiders win.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
Pittsburgh Steelers
at Cincinnati Bengals
Steelers have to win this game. Bengals have to win this game. Somebody will win this game. I think experience will play a big factor and Big Ben Roethlisberger will outgun Andy Dalton.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
I don't like this match-up for the Lions. They will have to try to make it a shootout to stay in it, which they can do, but I think the Bears win this.

NFL Week 7 Powerless Rankings
Sometimes the little guy needs some love. This week I will have my Powerless Rankings, which will be my Bottom 10 teams in the NFL and I will also have my Top teams in my usual Power Rankings, so don't worry. There are plenty of options for the Powerless Rankings, as there are for the Power Rankings, but most teams are actually in the middle. Let's get to it shall we?

POWERLESS RANKINGS:
1. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4)
There is just something bad about them this year. The bye week helped them from being (1-5) though, so that's a positive. As is Maurice Jones-Drew.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5)
I really thought they would be pretty good this year. I was wrong.

3. Oakland Raiders (1-4)
Not much going right for the Raiders this year. I think Carson Palmer is done too. Talk about a bad trade!

4. Tennessee Titans (2-4)
Yeah, I know they beat the Steelers, but they are pretty bad. I would stick with Hasselbeck at QB though, even if Locker is healthy.

5. Carolina Panthers (1-4)
Whoa Cam. What is going on here?

6. Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
This team will get better as the year goes on and probably will be playoff caliber by next season.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)
Josh Freeman might not be the answer at QB. They have plenty of other issues though, not just him.

8. Cleveland Browns (1-5)
I actually don't think the Browns are that bad. They play pretty well each week. Still, (1-5) is not a very good record.

9. Buffalo Bills (3-3)
Pretty soft .500 record.

10. St. Louis Rams (3-3)
Same as Buffalo.

Okay, so that wraps up my bottom 10, now to the Top 10:

POWER RANKINGS:
1. New York Giants (4-2)
Finally the defending Super Bowl Champions are #1 on my list. They look great right now. No question.

2. New England Patriots (3-3)
What? They have a .500 record! They just lost to Seattle! I know, but they will get back on track. (Hopefully not this week)

3. Denver Broncos (3-3)
Peyton Manning finally has the team on track. I could see them finishing the season no worse than (11-5).

4. Green Bay Packers (3-3)
The Pack are also back on track. Look for them to compete for the NFC crown.

5. Baltimore Ravens (5-1)
The Ravens lost Webb and Lewis for the season, which will hurt, but I still think they will make the playoffs.

6. Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
Hey, I am a believer in Atlanta being a good team, but they are not a great team yet. Too many close calls with far inferior teams the last few weeks.

7. Houston Texans (5-1)
I am a little worried about Houston, but this week against the Ravens should tell us a lot about the kind of team they are.

8. Chicago Bears (4-1)
Coming off a Bye, the Bears look to take down Megatron and the Lions.

9. Seattle Seahawks (4-2)
Have to put the Seahawks on here after a win over New England. They play great at home. They might make the playoffs.

10. New York Jets (3-3)
Yeah, this #10 spot could be filled with many teams right now: Arizona, Minnesota, Washington, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, etc. I think Rex and the boys have a shot at winning in New England. We will see.

Okay, Week 7 begins tomorrow night with the 49ers hosting the Seahawks for 1st place in the NFC West. Should be a good one!

Yankees Lose Jeter for Rest of Playoffs
Tough loss in many ways for the Yankees last night, as they lost in extra innings to the Tigers 6-4, but more importantly lost Derek Jeter for the rest of the postseason with a fractured ankle. Normally losing a player would not be the end of the world for a team, but Derek Jeter means a lot to New York. He has been their best hitter in the playoffs and one of the best lead off batters in the game. His defense is still good too, just think back to Game 5 of the ALDS vs. the Orioles, when he got CC Sabathia out of a jam. You can't replace a Derek Jeter. Now the Yankees are only down 1-0 in a best of 7 series with the Detroit Tigers, but that also includes 2 starts for Justin Verlander. I don't like the Yankees' odds.

As for the NLCS: Game 1 is tonight San Francisco between Cardinals and Giants. Battle of the last two World Series Champions. Should be good.

October 11th Sports Update/MLB and NFL Picks
What a day of baseball yesterday! I got 3 of my 4 picks right and the one I missed was the A's who were down 3-1 with 1 out in the Bottom of the 9th and went on to score 3 runs and force a Game 5. So today we have 4 more MLB Playoff games. The Reds and Giants will also play a Game 5 today and the Nationals and Orioles are on the brink of elimination in
two Game 4's today. Can't wait!

Game 5: Giants at Reds (Series tied 2-2) 1:07 Start
Matt Cain vs. Mat Latos
Great pitching match-up, great teams, great series. Somebody has to win though. The Giants have the momentum, I think they pull off 3 straight road wins. I am taking Matt over Mat.

Game 4: Cardinals at Nationals (Cardinals lead series 2-1) 4:07 Start
Kyle Lohse vs. Ross Detwiler
Not liking this match-up for the Nationals. They have had a great season, but shutting down Strasberg ruined everything. I have been a person who was not in favor of the move. Even more so now, with these playoff results. The Nationals will give it their all today, but it might not be enough.

Game 4: Orioles at Yankees (Yankees lead series 2-1) 7:37 Start
Joe Saunders vs. Phil Hughes
Not sure where to go with this game. I expected each team to go back and forth and the Yankees win it in 5, but last night's game could be a killer (momentum wise) for the O's. Also, Ibanez could have given the Yankees a spark. Toss up. I'll say O's pull it off!

Game 5: Tigers at Athletics (Series tied 2-2) 9:37 Start
Justin Verlander vs. Jarrod Parker
Great series so far. A's magic last night was so fun to watch. Can the magic continue against one of the best pitchers in the league? Not sure. Verlander is great. It is up to Parker to not let the Tigers score and force this to go to the bullpens. Should be great. I say Tigers win, but I am wrong a lot.

Let's move on to the NFL! Week 6 Picks.
Should be another great week of action. Tonight the Steelers are at the Titans, but I am not sure how good the ratings will be with all this great baseball going on. I will definitely switch back and forth. Andrew Luck and the Colts had a big win at home vs. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. I am interested to see how both respond as the Colts travel to New York to take on Mark Sanchez and the Jets and the Packers travel to Houston for a potential Super Bowl Preview against the Texans. Pick time!

Thursday Night Football:
Pittsburgh Steelers
at Tennessee Titans
The Steelers have many injuries, but the Titans are just bad. We will see if Tennessee can take advantage of homefield during a short week though.

Sunday:
Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tough game here. Neither playing great. I'm going with the home team.

Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets
The Jets are getting Dustin Keller and Stephen Hill back this week. Hopefully it helps the offense. Colts are playing great, so it could be a good game.

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
The Browns are going to win this game! I have a feeling. Win #1 is on the way for Cleveland. Remember this Cleveland: You rock!

Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles
Tough call here. Lions are playing bad, but they are better than everyone is saying right now. Philadelphia is hot and cold, drive to drive. I will take Philly because they are at home. I would take Detroit if the game was there.

Oakland Raiders at Atlanta Falcons
LOCK. Falcons move to (6-0)

St. Louis Rams at Miami Dolphins
Dolphins move to .500? I think so. I really do.

Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens have the AFC North in the palm of their hand right now. Can't lose home games to the Cowboys. I see Dallas playing well though.

Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals
This could be very wrong, but I am taking the Bills. Arizona looked pretty bad last week. Almost as bad as Buffalo, who lost 45-3. Wait. What? Okay, I am not sure now.

New England Patriots at Seattle Seahawks
Tom Brady or Russell Wilson? Tom Brady.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers
NFC Championship Re-match. Should be a great showdown. I think both teams are Super Bowl caliber this year. If San Francisco can beat Green Bay then New York, they officially prove they are the best in the NFC. (Despite Atlanta's 6-0 Start)

Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins
Not sure Adrian Peterson wants to play this game, but I think he will and he will be unstoppable. Vikings surprise the world by starting
(5-1).

Sunday Night Football:
Green Bay Packers
at Houston Texans
The Jets almost beat the Texans. A solid effort from Aaron Rodgers should give Houston their first loss of the season.

Monday Night Football:
Denver Broncos
at San Diego Chargers

First 5 weeks, I have picked Peyton Manning's team. Despite being
(2-3), make it 6.

October 10th Sports Update
Big day in sports today. 4, that is right, 4 MLB Playoff Games. I will preview each here. Talk a little NFL and give my new Power Rankings, but first, let's start with the KHL. Yep, not NHL, KHL. ESPN2 aired a game yesterday featuring Alex Ovechkin's Dynamo Moscow. They were able to get the 1-0 victory and who do you think scored the goal? Yep. The Great 8, Alexander Ovechkin. (Ironically, The Great 8 wears #32 in the KHL). It was fun to watch, but hopefully the NHL Lockout ends soon.

MLB Playoffs:
Game 3: Cardinals at Nationals (Series tied 1-1) 1:07 Start
Chris Carpenter vs. Edwin Jackson
I have to say, the Cardinals are outplaying the Nationals. Carpenter is better than Jackson. Nats Park crowd could feed the Nats the energy they need, but if not, I see the Cards getting the Curly W.

Game 4: Giants at Reds (Reds lead series 2-1) 4:07 start.
Barry Zito vs. Mike Leake
Giants won in extras yesterday and they can do it again. Barry Zito has had his best season as a Giant, but Leake has been good too. Tough call here but I am saying this is going 5!

Game 3: Orioles at Yankees (Series Tied 1-1) 7:37 start
Miguel Gonzalez vs. Huroki Kuroda
First off, don't take that starting time too seriously. Games 1 and 2 did not start on time and rain is in the forcast in New York. I said this series would go back and forth and i'll say it again here. Yankees win Game 3.

Game 4: Detroit Tigers at Oakland A's (Tigers lead series 2-1) 9:37 Start
Max Scherzer vs. AJ Griffin
Can the A's keep the magic going? I said they were a great story, but felt the Tigers would win the series and I am sticking by that. Scherzer puts a new ending to Moneyball tonight. Still not the ending A's fans want though.

To the NFL!
"Umm Mr. Sanchez, this is
Pietro DiSante from Sports Radio 1340 WEPM in Martinsburg, WV and I am just calling to let you know that we know it is not all your fault. The offense is a mess, filled with injuries, Tim Tebow keeps throwing off your flow when he comes in for a play or two, but don't worry about it. It will all get back on track soon. Okay now you go back out there and let your Tight End tip another pass to the Texans. See you later."

Good week in the NFL. I really enjoyed the Texans-Jets game. The Texans pulled off the 23-17 win, but the Jets played them very well and if not for a few mistakes, could have won. Same thing happened to Peyton Manning in New England. Too many mistakes from his teammates cost Denver the win as Tom Brady and Patriots won it
31-21. The Saints got their first win, as I predicted, over the Chargers and Drew Brees threw a touchdown in his 48th straight game, an NFL record. Week 6 begins tomorrow night in Tennessee, where the Titans host Big Ben and Steelers.

WEEK 6 POWER RANKINGS:
1. New England Patriots (3-2)
2. San Francisco 49ers (4-1)
3. Atlanta Falcons (5-0)
4. Houston Texans (5-0)
5. New York Giants (3-2)
6. Baltimore Ravens (4-1)
7. Chicago Bears (4-1)
8. Denver Broncos (2-3)
9. Green Bay Packers (2-3)
10. Minnesota Vikings (4-1)

Teams that dropped out of Top 10:
-Arizona Cardinals (#6 last week)

Orioles-Yankees ALDS Preview:

18 games was not enough for these two teams. They have to play up to 5 more games against each other. The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles battled until the final day of the MLB season for the AL East Crown, which went to the Yankees by 2 games in the end, but now they are fighting for something even bigger: A trip to the American League Championship Series. I think there is a great chance that this series will go 5 games, but I also could see one team taking over the series early. Could be either team too. The O's and Yankees split their 18 games this year, each winning 9 games against each other, so anything could happen.

Lets Take a Look at the Match-Ups:
Game 1:

CC Sabathia vs. Jason Hammel
I give the edge to the Yankees here. Hammel has been out for awhile, CC is hot and so are the Yankees' bats.

Game 2:
Andy Pettitte vs. Wei-Yin Chen
I give the Yankees the edge in this game too. Pettitte is the most successful Playoff Pitcher of All-Time and Chen ended the season a little rough.

Game 3:
Miguel Gonzalez vs. Hiroki Kuroda
The series shifts to Yankee Stadium for Game 3. Could be a pretty even match-up, but again I give the edge to the Yankees.

If it goes further, the Yankees would start Phil Hughes in Game 4 and Sabathia again for Game 5.

Despite me giving the edge to the Yankees, somehow the O's keep winning. Should be a great series folks! You can listen to the games on Sports Radio 1340 WEPM!

Prediction: Yankees in 5.

NFL Week 5 Picks and Power Rankings
Week 5 is already here. Tonight the undefeated Cardinals travel to St. Louis to take on Sam Bradford and the Rams. Plenty of good games this week. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning meet again as Denver travels to New England, Drew Brees and the Saints look for win #1 against his former team, the Battle of Pennsylvania takes place between the Steelers and Eagles and Matty Ice and the Falcons take on RGIII and the Skins. Lets get right to the picks!

Thursday Night Football:
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams
Upset Special! The Rams win this one at home. The Cardinals get loss #1. It is a short week, the Rams are not so bad, I think they can pull this off.

Sunday:
Philadelphia Eagles at Pittsburgh Steelers
I like Pittsburgh coming off the BYE. Defense is healthy finally, the Eagles make too many mistakes and the Steelers will take advantage of that.

Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts
Luck vs. Rodgers could one day be a Super Bowl match-up, but the rookie will have a hard time out-slinging Rodgers this Sunday. Could be a shootout though.

Cleveland Browns at New York Giants
The Browns have looked pretty good for an (0-4) team. They will cause some trouble for the Giants. Expect it to be close.

Atlanta Falcons at Washington Redskins
This is a tough pick for me. I think the Skins have a chance, but it will have to be high scoring. They won't be able to stop the Falcons offense.

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals
I like Miami in this game, but the Bengals at home will pull off the win. Probably in overtime. Haha.

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
I am taking the Ravens, but this is a toss up. The Chiefs play good or bad each week. If the good team shows up, they can beat the Ravens.

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton got back on track last week, despite the loss. The Panthers have to win sometime.

Chicago Bears at Jacksonville Jaguars
DA BEARS.

GAME OF THE WEEK:
Denver Broncos
at New England Patriots
Love it! Peyton Manning. Tom Brady. Just like the good ole days. Except this time Peyton is a Bronco. Can the Patriots really lose 2 straight home games? Unlikely, but the Broncos would like to win after getting blown out and eliminated from the Playoffs last year in New England. This time they have a quarterback who can get them the win. Broncos by 3.

Buffalo Bills at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers blew out the Jets, the Jets blew out the Bills, thus the 49ers will super blow out the Bills? Sports logic doesn't work like that, but San Francisco is a lock this week.

Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings
I like Matt Hasselbeck. I think him starting helps the Titans. They get an impressive road win in Minnesota.

Sunday Night Football:
San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints
The Saints have to win once. Come on. This is getting out of control. The Chargers are good, but the Saints have to win. I can't see them (0-5).

Monday Night Football:

Houston Texans at New York Jets
Okay, lets go over this. The Texans are #1 in my Power Rankings.
(4-0), just beat the Titans with ease. The Jets just lost 34-0 to the 49ers and have also lost Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes for the season. The Jets have no offensive weapons, the Texans have a great defense, the Jets can't stop the run, Houston has a great running game, etc. You know what all this means. Jets by 3.

POWER RANKINGS:
1. Houston Texans (4-0)
2. San Francisco 49ers (3-1)
3. Baltimore Ravens (3-1)
4. Atlanta Falcons (4-0)
5. New York Giants (3-1)
6. Arizona Cardinals (4-0)
7. Green Bay Packers (2-2)
8. Denver Broncos (2-2)
9. New England Patriots (2-2)
10. Chicago Bears (3-1)

Teams that dropped out of the Top 10:
-New York Jets (#10 last week) and they are never coming back. Haha.

October 2nd Sports Mix
Okay, first off: Congratulations to the Washington Nationals! 2012 NL East Champions. It has been a great season for the Nats and this is icing on the Regular Season Cake. Still much more to do in the playoffs though, but great start for DC. Looks like the rest of the NL playoff teams will be the Reds, Giants, Braves and Cardinals.

As for the AL: The Yankees have a 1 game lead in the East, the Orioles and Athletics have Wild Card spots at least and the Tigers won the Central. As for the AL West: The A's are just 1 game back of the Rangers with 2 head to head games left. Should be an exciting finish. Could all end tonight though.

To the NFL: The Bears blew out the Cowboys last night to end Week 4. Decent week that included the 49ers blowing out the Jets 34-0, a great 28-27 Packers win over the (0-4) Saints and the Texans, Cardinals and Falcons staying undefeated. I like that after the Jets get shutout at home by the 49ers and lose Santonio Holmes to injury, they get to play the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football. Only the Jets would have that luck.

The Redskins got back on track with a nice comeback by RGIII at the end of the Buccaneers game after the Redskins blew a big lead and kicker Billy Cundiff missed 3 kicks. He made the game winner though, which is what counts.

Week 5 starts this Thursday with the undefeated Cardinals at the Rams.
