The weeks are flying by! It is already time for Week 8 tonight, as the surprise (5-2) Vikings host Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers. I think that game could be fun to watch because I have not been able to watch much of either team this season. Again, the Power Rankings were hard to do this week because so many teams are so close to each other and there really are not that many GREAT teams in the NFL right now. This week has plenty of good match-ups, so let's get to it!
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Minnesota Vikings
A win tonight will make Minnestoa a surprising (6-2) team, but they are playing great. Their defense is strong, Adrian Peterson looks great again, and most surprising is quarterback Christian Ponder has played pretty well.
SUNDAY:
Miami Dolphins at New York Jets
The Dolphins are coming off a BYE, a Rex Ryan-led Jets team has never swept the Dolphins, the Jets are coming off a heart-breaking loss in New England where they outplayed the Patriots, yet made too many mistakes, so yeah I am taking the Jets to win this one big.
San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns
I might be a Browns fan. Every game of theirs feels like a toss-up to me. Then I have to remind myself that they are (1-6).
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
I love the Titans radio announcer who says "TOUCHDOWN TITANS!" It was even cooler this week with the last second touchdown to defeat the Bills 35-34. I think Tennessee wins their 3rd straight game.
New England Patriots at St. Louis Rams
This year's London game could be a good one, because the Patriots have lost to the Cardinals and Seahawks. They are not doing well against the NFC West. I still think they get the win though.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is a scary team to play now that Aaron Rodgers is back to playing like Aaron Rodgers. I would not be surprised if they don't lose again.
Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles
The Falcons are (6-0), yet this will be the 4th time I pick them to lose. I just think the Eagles at home, off a bye, will be tough to beat.
Washington Redskins at Pittsburgh Steelers
Many Steelers fans are like "Wait til RGIII plays our defense." I don't get it. They are old and slow. Seems like a good match-up for RGIII. The problem is I don't think the Redskins defense can stop the Steelers at all. Pittsburgh wins.
Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions
If Seattle is really a contender, these are the games they have to win. If they do, then I will be sold on them as a playoff team, if not then I won't. This is a must win for Detroit though.
Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears
The Bears are under the radar, despite being (5-1). Cam Newton is looking for suggestions on how the Panthers can get better. My suggestion would be not to play the Bears Defense. Sadly, Cam has no choice.
Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
Brady Quinn is going to save the day in Kansas City! Maybe. Probably not.
GAME OF THE WEEK:
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
I am excited for this game. The Cowboys have to win to keep pace in the NFC East and I think they will do it. They were close to beating the Giants twice last year and this will be the time Romo and Big D get the job done. I am not sure how though, but I have a feeling Dallas does it. Can you trust a feeling? Eli Manning and the Giants find a way to win each week. Dallas will have to step up.
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos
Great match-up. Peyton Manning vs. Drew Brees. Can't wait to watch it. My Super Bowl pick was Packers-Broncos and I still think it is going to happen. I said I would not be surprised if Green Bay never loses again, I feel the same with Denver, but they have a tougher schedule.
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL:
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals
Can you win your first 4 games then lose your next 4? Yep.
POWER RANKINGS:
1. New York Giants (5-2)
Big win over the Redskins keeps the Giants in the #1 Spot.
2. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
The Packers are hot and they are not stopping any time soon.
3. New England Patriots (4-3)
They played pretty bad last week and still won. They will only get better.
4. Denver Broncos (3-3)
Peyton Manning has been on target all year, now the rest of the team is joining him finally.
5. Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
Matt Ryan has led Atlanta to their best start ever. Can he keep it going?
6. Houston Texans (6-1)
The loss to Green Bay was bad, but blowing out the Ravens got Houston back on track.
7. Chicago Bears (5-1)
The Bears are looking good. Maybe the best defense in the NFL.
8. San Francisco 49ers (5-2)
The 49ers are still great, but the Giants loss was bad.
9. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)
Ravens are fading fast. Can they get back on track? I think so.
10. Minnesota Vikings (5-2)
I think the Vikings move to (6-2) tonight. Have to start considering them a contender.
