I have been working at Prettyman Broadcasting since 2010, doing a little bit of everything, but my passion is Sports! I graduated from Shepherd University in 2010, with a degree in Mass Communications and New Media. I hosted a sports radio show there for 3 years. I love sports writing too, so expect some fun articles on this blog. I love talking NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA. Make sure you comment on the blogs too, because I love discussing sports. NFL Training Camp is Here!
by Pietro DiSante Jr.,posted Jul 28 2013 9:01AM
It is finally here! The 2013 NFL Season is about a month away. The first Preseason game will be next Sunday. There are many questions heading into Training Camp around the NFL. I thought I would try to answer a few this morning.
1. Who will win the Starting Quarterback Job for the Jets?
Mark Sanchez is entering his 5th season as a Jet, Geno Smith is entering his 3rd day of training camp, so the edge in experience has to go to Sanchez. However, the last two seasons have been bumpy at best for Sanchez and early reports have shown Geno Smith is doing pretty well. I think, in the end, Sanchez will be the opening day starter, but Smith is clearly the future and the future could be coming soon....
2. How will RGIII rebound from his 2012 injury?
It seems like Robert Griffin III is already healthy. I am sure the Redskins will ease him back and not play him too much in the Preseason (possibily not at all). He will be out there Week 1 though and I expect him to be 100%. He will be running around less, too.
3. Who is the best team in the AFC?
The AFC is actually pretty weak heading into 2013, but I have to say the Denver Broncos are clearly the best team. Last year's #1 seed, will likely get it again, barring any key injuries. The Colts, Texans, Steelers, and Patriots will compete for the top spot too.
4. Will the Eagles be able to survive without Jeremy Maclin?
I am not sure how good they were going to be even with him, but I think they have time to adjust. The Ravens losing Dennis Pitta is another key loss early in Training Camp. With Anquan Boldin in San Francisco, Joe Flacco may not have many weapons in Baltimore.
5. Which team is flying under the radar right now?
I think many teams are, actually. I like the Arizona Cardinals, for some reason. Cleveland Browns too. The #1 team under the radar is the New Orleans Saints though. Sean Payton is back, Drew Brees is healthy, I expect the Saints to not only take the NFC South back from the Falcons, but also compete for a Super Bowl.
